Privacy Policy
56 Global Ltd ("56", "we", "us", "our") operates the 56 service, which lets you send and receive payments and create and manage invoices. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have over it.
We take your privacy seriously. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@get56.io.
Who we are
56 Global Ltd is a company registered in the United Kingdom (company number 17168434). Our registered address is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
We are the "data controller" for the personal information described in this policy. That means we are responsible for deciding how and why your information is used.
Who this policy is for
56 is designed for freelancers and independent earners, primarily in the Philippines, who are paid by clients and want to manage those payments. This policy is written to comply with both the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
What information we collect
We collect the following types of personal information:
Information you give us when you sign up and use 56:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your date of birth
- Your home or mailing address
Identity verification information (required to use the service):
- A government-issued ID (such as a passport, driver's licence, or national ID)
- A photo or "selfie" used to confirm your identity matches your ID
- Other information needed to verify who you are and to meet anti-money-laundering rules
Financial and payment information:
- Your bank account or e-wallet details (for example, GCash), so you can be paid
- Details of the invoices you create, including who your clients are and the amounts
- Your income and payment history through 56
- Records of the transactions you make using 56
Information we collect automatically when you use our website or app:
- Device and browser information
- General location (for example, country)
- How you use the service, such as pages viewed and actions taken
- Cookies and similar technologies (see the "Cookies" section below)
Why we collect it and our legal basis
We use your personal information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Verify your identity, as required by law
- Process payments and let you send and receive money
- Let you create and manage invoices
- Keep the service secure and prevent fraud and financial crime
- Meet our legal and regulatory obligations
- Contact you about your account and important service updates
- Improve and develop the service
Under data protection law, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (to provide the service), complying with our legal obligations (such as identity checks and anti-money-laundering rules), your consent (which you give when you sign up), and our legitimate interests (such as keeping the service safe and improving it).
When we contact you
We will send you emails about your account and your money, including:
- A welcome email when you sign up
- Notifications when money moves, for example, when you are paid, when a withdrawal is being processed, and when it completes
These are service messages tied to your account and your transactions. They are not marketing.
How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted companies that help us run the service, and only as much as needed. These include:
- Bridge, for holding and converting funds and running identity checks
- Persona, for verifying your identity from your ID and selfie
- Coins.ph, for paying money out to your local bank or e-wallet
- Stripe, for processing incoming card payments
- Our technology providers, such as hosting and database services that run the 56 platform
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram), which receives ad measurement signals as described in the "Advertising measurement" section
Each of these providers handles your information under their own privacy and security obligations. We may also share information where the law requires it, for example, with regulators, law enforcement, or courts.
Because 56 operates across the United Kingdom and the Philippines, and our providers may be located in other countries, your information may be transferred and stored outside your home country. Where that happens, we take steps to make sure your information stays protected to the standards required by law.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us, and afterwards for as long as we are legally required to. For example, financial and anti-money-laundering rules require us to keep certain records for several years after your last transaction. When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymise it.
How we protect your information
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption, access controls, and secure infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to limit who can access it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your information (where we are not legally required to keep it)
- Object to or restrict how we use your information
- Withdraw your consent at any time (though this may mean you can no longer use the service)
- Complain to a data protection regulator
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@get56.io. In the Philippines, you may also contact the National Privacy Commission. In the UK, you may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, to keep the service secure, and to understand how the service is used so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some are needed for the service to work.
Advertising measurement
We advertise 56 on Meta platforms (Facebook and Instagram). To measure whether those ads work, our public pages load Meta's pixel, which tells Meta when a page is visited. Our servers also tell Meta when someone joins the waitlist or opens an account. These reports include your IP address, your browser type, and two Meta cookie IDs that tell Meta which ad click, if any, brought you to us. They never include your email address, phone number, or name, in any form. We send Meta nothing about your money, your documents, or anything you do inside your account.
Meta uses this information as described in its own privacy policy. You can block the pixel with your browser's cookie settings or a content blocker, and 56 works the same either way. Blocking the pixel does not stop the server reports described above. To stop future reports about you, email us at hello@get56.io.
Children
56 is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will let you know. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed.
